After extensive analysis, Spoon redesigned the gears from the ground up, looking into material, its hardness and geometry for significantly improved durability.
Cutting the gears during development, Spoon analyzed surface and core hardness of the gears, studying the effective hardness layers as well as its material composition. As a result, they were able to find the optimal material balance of hardness and toughness. Further computer analysis of the gears revealed ways to increase the modular strength of the gears and its gear teeth.
